This building was constructed in 1925 as a gentleman's hotel and rathskeller, catering to the traditions of the growing population of immigrants. Hamtramck's population swelled in the 1940s and 1950s as more immigrants arrived to work in Detroit's thriving factories. In 1976, the Wietrzykowski family renovated the building and opened the 'Yemen's Bar and Hotel.' The next generation of the family took over in 2000, ''bringing in a youthful perspective while maintaining traditions. Polish Village Cafe is one of the most reknowned and acclimed Polish restaurants in the country.''
