''The construction of the structures is said to have run between the 2575 and 2465 BC period. ... Originally, casing stone which was of polished limestone covered the pyramids. Because of the stones, when the sun's light fell on the pyramid, it would shine brightly like jewels. These casing stones no longer exist since they were taken by Arabs and used for purposes of building mosques. This happened in the 14th century after the casing stones were loosened by an earthquake. Specialists have deduced that the original casing stones of the pyramid acted as gigantic mirrors by reflecting a powerful light which appeared like a shiny star. Ancient Egyptians used to call the pyramid 'Ikhet' which means 'Glorious Light.' Khafre pyramid has somehow managed to retain its external limestone casing but only at the very topmost part.''
